PUC is a program collaboration between the Cockrell School of Engineering, and the Steve Hicks School of Social Work at the University of Texas at Austin. Students spend two semesters in college designing, planning, and fundraising for a project in response to community needs. Then travel to the community in the summer to implement and construct the project and engage with community members.
In 2019, PUC partnered with the Church's Auxiliary for Social Action (CASA), a non-governmental organization in India, to bring a new community center to the village of Siripudi, Andhra Pradesh. This project began with PUC students as part of Team India 2019-2020, but due to the pandemic, it has continued to develop under my team, Team India 2020-2021 since August 2020.
Team India 2019-2020 made strong headway on the design of the community center for Siripudi, so my team is grateful for the opportunity to explore additional scope to benefit the community. As project manager, I have led my team through a semester of refining 90% design plans, determining 3 potential scope additions, and fundraising nearly $10,000 towards our cause. My teammates have done an amazing job so far and I look forward to continuing to develop our plans this semester!
